I'm #1!

Woohoo! Haven't been number 1 in anything other than pigging around for a while now.

Don't believe ah?

Got proof la.

Wait. Take pic first.

Can see anot?

Too small?

Ok, wait ah...

Blueks! Don't believe me la.

Even though it's not real money.

But nevermind! Still #1!

Texas Hold-em Poker

Facebook got me addicted to poker. On the first day playing, I lost all my 300 chips. That's how badly I was stuck with poker. Thank goodness it's not real cash, or you might see my name in the next article about tai yee longs... ok, so maybe if it's real cash I wouldn't play at all la, but you get my point in how much I played right? Right.

To learn, I played the solo version, as in me vs the computer. If jayisgames didn't give a review about it, I most probably wouldn't have understood anything from instructions online. After getting bored of that I went on with the Yahoo! Games version. Boringgggg. It's super slow, the sounds they use hurts the ears, and you can't raise more than what Yahoo! sets.

And that's where Facebook comes in. Mwaa Facebook! Not only the pace is set by the players, but there's a mute button and you can bet however much you want. Not only that, can savour some eye candy and get a few compliments too. =Þ Of course, friends can be made, jokes thrown around and learn a few things. (Bunnies squeak at night, and there's a brand of toothpaste called Chinky in HK)

The only thing I don't like about poker on Facebook is that some people are just such sore losers. If you're losing, stop playing la. Not like it's real money anyway.

Boo to those peeps. Back to poker for me.

edit: Hehe, I'm getting Suyan addicted now. =P

Purple poop-less!

Ahahaha I've been so gross lately. You know you love it!! =P

Got my GCE A-level results already. Pfffffbt. Dentistry is no more an option. I'll rather do psychology than waste time studying dentistry in a place which not only has my intake as its first, but have their cert from some unknown-to-the-world university.

Lemme see, what have I been doing, other than eating, sleeping, and grandma-sitting...

Last Thursday was dinner with Chia, Ty, KH, CS at Murni's. (Chia left already! She should have reached US of A by now. Missing you already!)

Last Friday was steamboating with Abby, Kev, Sam, Wil and Pete at Yuen's. Omg the people there. I know their chicken wings are good, but not so that you have to act like you've never eaten in 23472104864012 days right? I only manage to get some wings by the third try, and the crazy uncles and aunties were pushing and grabbing away! One even used a plate and did a scoop-and-throw method to get a huge plate. Crazy I tell you.

A few days ago I got my Ratatouille tickets in the mail, thanks too NuffNang. (Timothy Tiah faster do another bloggers gathering!) The thing is, my sister watched it already, and so did Mund (it's been too long since we saw each other) and practically everyone else are on a different schedule now ( STPM Trial's coming!) especially those who are working. Add the terms and conditions for redeeming the tickets (Mon-Thurs, after the 1st week of screening) and that means practically no one would be joining me. Hahahahah so sad go and watch twice by myself mehhhhhhh??? NoooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!

Friday night was a little girls' night out with babes I've not seen for 7 years, Sook Mun, Christine Wong, and Jodi. Chia the VVIP of the night couldn't make it becouse of gastric, but at least the girls got to go to her place and see her one last time before she left on an jet aeroplane.

Yesterday was my first time driving ever since I got my driving licence 25 months ago. My dad got me so happy finally being able to drive, until he stopped me not 5 minutes later and said "Bei lei char har song har je la" ( Let you drive for fun abit oni la). WTTooooooot wehhhhhh!! I so song song driving edi (not much traffic ma) and he asked me to stop. Jhor!

This afternoon was lunch with Ty, Paintball is supposed to be sometime this week, and sorry Leon, no Penang this weekend for me. Too broke already. Don't know whether I'll be going for the Sloggi thing on Sat, and a holiday with my sis during the long weekend ( Merdeka yo!) will have to be cancelled since my relatives from SG are coming up on the 31st.

Mom said Grandpa and Grandma would be going back to Ipoh next month, but my plans for working will still have to wait until my paternal Grandma goes back to Pangkor. Me and my Amah, alone every day, oh please don't let it be long. I don't want to be a sui char boh to her but sometimes, or more like everytime she tests my patience so.

Mae, Wen, come back in Nov please! Hopefully I'll be able to go overseas for studies and if I do, that will be my last chance to see you guys and go for a holiday together! If I do fly somewhere for studies, I doubt I'll be coming back to Malaysia very often, unless it's Singapore la but then again, can I get into super kiasu-land's universities anot first?

Dragon fruit warning

Excessive intake of dragon fruit will cause your poop to turn purple.

edit: Shit (pardon the pun), it's the third day of not eating any more dragon fruit but there's still a little purple left. Is it just me or is it the fruit?

Langkawi, Day 4

Did our (then) daily routine of waking up, bathing and breaking fast before walking to Langkasuka (their van was busy picking up workers until 9am) and beached around. No pics then, and no sun... again. I had totally no luck getting a tan.

Checked out at 12pm so we didn't have to pay for the few extra hours we had until our flight, so we packed everything into the car and drove off. On our way to the cable car at Mt Mat Cincang, we dropped by some craft shops. Everything was so similar I believe they bought it from the same supplier. Again, nothing worth getting for the three.

Can't remember how much was the Malaysians' price for the cable car, sorry. They use RFID cards as the tickets, for tracking any missing person maybe? It was drizzling when we went up, so it got really foggy and cold so they view's kinda whacked.

On the way up we saw 2 waterfalls.

First base.

Peak. The sign says 710 metres above sea level btw.

On the way down. Had to stick my hand out the window to avoid the raindrops on the window.

When we got down, it stopped drizzling so we walked around the compound and found these.

Rabbit after rabbit after rabbit pooping everywhere in their enclosure.

Deer adding to the poop.

Ellie adding poop in its own compound.

They had at least 3 different bridges there as well.

The highlight of our trip to Mt Mat Cincang: A monitor lizard gorging itself on a freaky long snake.

By then the car was running low on petrol, so we drove to the nearest petrol station, which, btw, wasn't as near as shown on the map. Even before we reached the petrol station, the warning light was already on. Good thing we made it in time so we didn't have to push the car.

We found the yatch docks.

After lepaking around for a while and deciding that the food at the docks were way to expensive, we drove back to Pantai Cenang to look for food but nothing else got our interest so in the end we drove to the airport, returned the car, and had dinner at Kenny Rogers.

Our flight was delayed due to the renovations at KLIA's runway (only one was open for use and LCCT uses KLIA's runway) so we had to wait and think of options in case we miss the bus.

Sad people.

On the bus. RM9 one way, stops at Subang Parade.

Langkawi, Day 3

Count how much water we drank, excluding drinks during meals and such. 5.5 litres a bottle kay.

Day 3 was the first time we went over to our hotel's sister hotel, Langkasuka Beach Resort. No, we didn't decide to suddenly change lodgings becouse we saw ghosts, but just for their private beach.

After breakfast at the hotel (free mah) we had the front desk arrange for the free feeder bus van to come pick us up and since we were still waiting for the fresh towels to come and Langkasuka provides beach towels, we didn't have to sneak towels out edi.

The lovebirds.

The merman with huge boobs because Abby wanted them to be.

His tribute to her.

Getting camera-shy edi.

Super Sam!

Super Sam and Kev Boy!

Stoning while trying to tan. The current whiteness of my legs shows my attempt failed...dreadfully.

Mr Krabs!

Played in the sand and sea until noon-ish, when it started to rain...again. We have no luck when it comes to beaching. At the room, we tossed around some ideas on where to go, but no plans were made for the afternoon. Everything we wanted to do was only on/best to go in the evening, so we joked that we'll just sleep the afternoon away. The joke became reality. Hehehehe. One by one we dropped like flies and by the time everyone was up, it's early evening. We washed our faces and drove down to Pantai Cenang again just to walk about the beach, stared at foreign family playing some game which has spitting and throwing in it, contemplated going on the para sailing thingy until finding out the price (rm60) and then went for dinner.

Dinner was at the much anticipated CoCo Beach Restaurant which just happens to be the nearest one to our hotel (they provide free feeder van services to certain areas). We were the only ones there at first (6-ish pm) and were hoping we'll be the only ones there until we leave but tak jadi, a bunch of adults came and their little corner became auntie-land. Ordered soft shell crab, fish, bbq-ed prawns, and a broccoli & cauliflower dish.RM128.50 for the dishes, RM4 for the rice (RM1x4) and RM5 for a pot of tea. Totally not worth it. Only the soft shell crab was nice, but that was becouse it was soft shell crab. =P Waste of RM 144.40.(If you don't believe me, try them yourselves. 04-9555000. Don't say I didn't warn you.)

Almost private dinner.

Practising some more... =P

Waiting for the sun to set.

Waiting some more for the sun to set.

Until we got fed up.

Super Sam and Kev Boy to the rescue!

Tadaa! Just when we were pulling out of the drive way, Kev, (or was it Sam) spotted the sun.

Pretty leh?

Prettier leh?

After dinner we went back down to Pantai Cenang to get the ordered necklaces from Zack, walked around to find souvenirs for those we requested for them *ahem jo aimi grace ahem* but found nothing nice or different from all the typical pencils and magnets and notebooks for tourist crap.

By the time we reached the hotel, we, ie Sam and I, felt like karaoke-ing but the lounge was full with Ma...err, halal people smoking and playing pool, and since I can't stand being in such a smoky place (like chimney oni) for long, we decided to just go back and have fun in the room.

Yea, day three was quite unproductive.

Baby loses arm to infection

Baby loses arm to infection...while she was supposed to be in a sterile environment? And all the can say is sorry? Sorry? Would sorry be enough to replace the arm? Her future? Her Happiness? Her LIFE?

Imagine how her parents must feel right now. All those months of following doc's orders, parents pantang larang, changes in lifestyle, worrying about her future, premature childbirth...but thankfully the bab came out healthy and active.

Now? The little girl might not even have a life to lead anymore and if she survives, she won't get the pleasure of doing the many two handed activities we all take for granted.

It's news like this that makes me skip the news on most days.

Keep baby Lai Yok Shan in your prayers everyone, and may she pull through and grow strong in spite of her disability.

Langkawi, Day 2

I was such the mom when it came to waking up. 6am every morning and bathing in not even lukewarm water just so the three can sleep a little longer, and boy can Kevin sleep. Had brekkie (buffet opens from 7.30-10.30) and drove towards the east of the island. Since we didn't want to spend so much time travelling, we decided to do and see everything there is to do/see in that one day.

First stop, Kota Mahsuri.

It used to be free, but not anymore. It's RM5 per entry for students. Worth paying, especially on a hot hot day. The museum has air conditioning. Heehee. Same old stuff there - the grave, the well, the shop selling tourist stuff. But there were new additions, not only the museum but also some birds and animals.

And also this. A "real" kampung house. With a window in the middle of the tiny hall. Yeap. So realistic.

Next stop was Kuah town, or to be exact, Langkawi's largest shopping mall. They were upgrading the bridge that leads straight to the mall, so we detoured and went on the wrong direction on a one way road with cars coming for a little while before finding our way. Quite fun though. Hahaha.

The biggest shopping mall was quite a let down. Big, yes, but there were less shops there than Atria! Good place to get cameras though ( I think). It had the most concentrated number of cam shops in a single place. The thing is, they all give different prices and are located quite far from each other, so some walking would be required to get the best deal.

Shrimp and lobsters baking in the sun.

While an octopus shouts at an eagle fishing. Weird, but cute deco pieces in the mall.

Langkawi isn't that much of a shopping haven. Other than tech gadgets, ciggies and booze, everything else would be of the same price or even more expensive than KL. After looking around for stuff to buy, only I came out with purchases. 2 bottles of Absolut Raspberry ( one for me and another for IPP Joanne) for only rm 90. Cheapo! Even the bottle PP Harley bought for Tommy at the airport was more expensive.

On the way out, we saw the sign for the docks, and since beside the docks was the Lang Square, we headed there for photos. Oh, and did I mention that it was super sunny?

I really need a tan.

To own a wide angle lens camera.

Kevin's head got hidden.

After a few more shots and lunch at the docks ( KFC, and it's more expensive there than in KL), we drove up north to the Bird Sanctuary. RM20 per entry for students. (That's why I say you should bring your student card. Doesn't matter it has expired, just try your luck. All of ours were expired in June anyway)

Uh oh.

Kev actually let the eagle perch on him. Without Dettol wipes nearby. After it pooped while standing on my shoulder. Missed the "target" though. Lucky me.

Btw, if you plan to buy booze, it's cheaper at the Bird Sanctuary than the only shop selling liquor sanctuary at the mall.RM42 at the sanctuary vs RM 45 at the mall.

By the time we left, it was already late afternoon so we drove to Tanjung Rhu to compare the quality of the beach.

So so la.

But still better than Cenang.

Since Tanjung Rhu Resort did only a so so job on cleaning the beach for us freeloaders their guests, we decided to drive down to The Datai and checkout how clean they got their beach to be.

We took the back way in. Waltzing in the front door was too conspicuous.

Pretending to stay at one of their chalets, which turned out to be one of their restaurants or something like that. =P

Pretend some more.

"Dinner" by on the beach. Rawr I want money.

Since Black Sand Beach was nearby, we decided to drive there and check out their beach. What we saw? This.

Even if the colour was caused by mineral deposits, the beach was still really dirty. Rubbish was everywhere, and there was the stench of something rotting in a pile of drain gunk lingering.

We made the unanimous decision to go back to Tj Rhu beach.(When you can't get the best, settle for second best la) At least there they can't kick us out if they find out we're freeloading on their cleanliness. *grin*

The shining sun, warm sand, and cold surf got most of us stuck on the beach at the start. 421461294612947 pounds of sand on me made me stay. The fun of burying me made the rest stay.

The depression near Kevin's right hand was made by his butt. Don't mess with skinny asses.

We left when it started drizzling so we packed up, rinsed with clean water we took, dried up as much as possible with the towels we sneaked out of the hotel and drove home. After bathing and all, I took out the chocs I bought at the jetty and found that my bar of dark choc with almonds transformed *insert Transformers famous sound here* into this

It melted and got squished and since our room was really cold, it froze permanently! Grawr! Luckily the seal didn't break, or I'll be fighting a losing battle with ants for the rest of the trip.

After resting a while we got hungry so we went out to L'Osteria for dinner as one of the receptionists recomended it. Not bad, but priced the same as KL Italian restaurants though.

Pizaa La Anatia-or-something-like-that: Wood fired pizza with smoked duck, olives and a number of cheeses.Very good. RM26

Pizza Bianca: Wood firedpizza with salmon and again, 2 types of cheeses which I can't remember for the life of me. Also RM26

Sam and Kev promoting the bottle of olive oil with dried chillies in it.

As you can see, I'm anti chillies.

Do not order Bailey's here. rm12 for a shemalllll portion. Sigh. Regretted, but I couldn't find small bottles of Bailey's for sale. =( and the gang don't drink, or at least not then, so a huge bottle wouldn't do.

The cherry stem Sam tied with his tongue. Kevin tried. Keyword: tried. Nyehehehe. Abby still loves you laaaaaaaaa..

I forgot to ask for a card, and the reciept they gave was the type you buy from the bookstore, so sorry peeps, no contact details. L'Osteria's on the free map you can get from the airport though, so no probs there. It's at Pantai Tengah, right beside the road near the fork so you won't miss it.

After dinner we went to Zack's place to order the coconut shell pendants things (5 for rm125), went back to the hotel, played a couple of rounds of Big2, and dozed off.
